Q. Does the monthly subscription include hardware costs?

No. All Sophos products that are hardware related need to be purchased separately.

For example, Sophos XGS 2300 Xstream Protection monthly license subscription requires purchase of Sophos XGS 2300 security appliance separately.

Q. When does the monthly subscription end?

The monthly subscriptions are paid monthly. There is no end date for the subscription. They renew every month.

Q. Does price vary month to month?

Generally not. The monthly price will remain constant. However, if there is a significant price change by Sophos, we will surely notify you of that well in advance.

Q. Which is less expensive, Sophos monthly subscription vs term 1 year subscription license?

That depends. If you bundle term license subscription for longer term, for example 5 years term, then this can be less expensive than the monthly subscription. However, you do have pay for the 5 years term upfront. The advantage of a term subscription is that you're locking in the pricing for the duration of the term.
