Core is the entry tier of TrendAI Vision One email security, licensed at 25 credits per user. It covers advanced threat protection and data loss prevention for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and collaboration apps, on one deployment type of your choosing.
Core makes you pick one deployment type, API or MX. API connects to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace directly and needs no mail routing change. MX puts a secure email gateway in front of your mail and means repointing your MX records. You cannot run both on Core. Pro is the tier that gives you both.

On MX deployment: email gateway SEG, advanced threat protection and data loss prevention.

Several capabilities that arrive included at Essentials are paid add-ons at Core, each 25 credits per user. On API that is inline mode and URL sandboxing. On MX it is cloud sandboxing, email encryption, email continuity and DMARC monitoring.
Add one 25 credit add-on to Core and you are at 50 credits per user, which is the Essentials rate for a tier that includes considerably more. If you know you need inline scanning or encryption, price Essentials before you price Core with add-ons.

Frequently asked questions
How is Vision One email security licensed?
Per user, not per mailbox and not per domain. Core is 25 credits per user, Essentials is 50 and Pro is 105. Shared mailboxes and aliases do not usually count as separate users, but confirm your exact count with us before ordering.
What is the difference between API and MX deployment?
API connects directly to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace through their APIs, so mail flow is untouched and there is no MX record change. MX routes your mail through a TrendAI gateway before delivery, which lets it block threats before they reach the mailbox but requires a DNS change.
Can I run both API and MX on Core?
No. Core and Essentials both require you to choose one deployment type. Pro is the only tier that runs API with inline mode and MX together, and it is also the only tier that adds XDR.
When is Core the wrong choice?
When you need inline scanning, email encryption, email continuity or DMARC monitoring. Those are 25 credit add-ons on Core and included at Essentials, so Core plus one add-on costs the same as Essentials and delivers less.
