Comparing two great security appliances - Sophos XGS 2300 vs Fortinet Fortigate FG-100F

Posted by undefined Saif Khan on 2024 Jun 14th

In the world of security appliances, there are many vendors to select from. Some of them are;

Barracuda

Cisco

CheckPoint

Fortinet

Juniper

PaloAlto

Sophos

SonicWall

WatchGuard

Today we're focusing to two top vendors that we sell, namely, Sophos Firewall XGS 2300 and Fortinet Fortigate FG-100F.

Price of these depends mainly software license that is purchased. Today the Sophos XGS 2300 is priced with 3yr Xstream Protection license, and, the Fortinet Fortigate FG-100F is priced with 3yr UTM license.

Important advantage with Sophos over Fortinet is that with Sophos XGS only requires 1 License is required for High Availability (HA) setup (uses 2 firewalls for Active/Standby, for Active/Active setup). For Fortinet Fortigate in HA, you'll need to purchase 2 license, that will increase the price.

While we're discussing pricing, please not that any system with purchase value of $5000+ is allegeable for great discounts if you send your request for quotes here.

Both firewalls have cloud management capability. Sophos has Sophos Central and Fortinet has FortigateCloud.

Additional cloud storage can be purchased for upto 1 year of data retention making management of these firewalls a breeze.

Both are Next Generation Firewall providing great features with Sophos Xstream Protection and FortiGuard UTM protection license. We'll compare these licenses in our next blog post.

Our recommendation is to always have High Availability setup for every business. This means pair of firewalls per location. In case 1 fails, the standby firewall automatically take over thereby allowing business operations continuity.

If you have any questions about either firewalls or would like to purchase them for your business, do contact us. A human will be there to help!
